On beginnings…

My cooking game is on point, this evening. Rocking it.

Starting something on the 1st is so cliche. And, who starts something on a Thursday, anyway? Ridiculous. So, I set out to begin a lot of things this Monday, January 5th, 2015. It just made more sense to me. And, in some cases, things were already set to begin that day:

I begin school. I’ve decided to go back to school. It’s been a long time coming and, there’s no time like the now. I feel like my life is at a point where I know I can successfully do this, even wanting to do this. And the wanting was the most important part, for me.

One of my resolutions has always been “to read more”. I’m sure I’ll accomplish that through my classes.

I’ve been cooking quite a bit, lately (picture, above, is our New Year’s Eve dinner). I’m reminded of how much I enjoy doing it, in spite of how much I absolutely hate our kitchen (apartment kitchens are the worst). I’m taking meal planning and shopping much more seriously, resulting in being able to create more complete, healthy dishes.

One of my resolutions has always been “to eat healthy”. I figure this can easily be accomplished if I simply made more meals at home. Cut out the restaurants and processed foods. And, I get to avoid the continually decreasing quality of restaurant service. It’s so difficult to find good food service lately. (and, get off of my lawn!)

With a month of my new job under my belt, I think I was able to get a good feel for what I was getting myself into. There’s a lot but, it’s all good. I’m excited. And, beginning tomorrow, I will take steps to own it. Make it mine. Take initiative. The honeymoon is over. It’s time to do work.

Here’s an obligatory paragraph on how I will “begin” to photograph more. I’ll get back to basics. I’ll photograph everything, no matter how mundane. Blah blah blah. The plan is to annoy my Instagram followers with pictures of food, while posting all of there photos to my Flickr account. We’ll see how this goes.

And on writing… Well, I’m sure that school will help me increase how much I write. And I do write quite a bit for work. I have also started to keep a journal. And, I hope to keep updating this page as well.
